An exceptional and beautifully proportioned George II carved giltwood console table, the 'Carrara Brescia' marble top above a frieze carved with acanthus leaves, supported by a eagle with elegant out stretched wings standing on rockwork.

This superb table displays many of the designs of the renowned architect and furniture designer William Kent (1685-1748).
William Kent was a highly skilled, and instrumental figure in making Palladian designs fashionable during the mid 18th Century. His designs remained in vogue and extremely fashionable during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and he is still held in great esteem today.
Many of his designs and influence can be seen in architecture and interiors around the world particularly in the United States, where his influence is prevalent in buildings in cities such as Chicago, New York, Boston and Washington.
