Rolleston offer select 18th century and early 19th century seating. Our pieces have ranged from a Highly Important suite of early 18th Century armchairs, attributed to James Moore, to a set of elegant mahogany late 18th Century dining room chairs.
Seat furniture is often used in a home, people, be it friends, family or colleagues will come in close contact with the craftsmanship. This was why such a premium was put on chairs and settees in the 18th Century, there was no hiding from the quality of the piece, as the sitter comes in to close contact with the timber and silk damasks or needlework coverings. Our collection ranges from Side Chairs from the Queen Anne period, to pairs of Gainsborough Chairs from the mid 18th Century and Chippendale Period.
