A quality pair of George III Mahogany pedestals, the radiating quartered veneered tops above doors carved with husks, swags and anthemion, opening to reveal one lead lined plate warmer and the other fitted with two shelves.
This elegant pair of pedestals are evocative of the firm Ince and Mayhew. The use of carved husk swags and anthemion are a feature of a number of commissions attributed to Mayhew & Ince in the later half of the 18th century. A similarly carved pair of pedestals dating from circa 1780 were made for Sir James Lowther, 5th Bt. 1736-1802 for Whitehaven Castle.
