A fine George I figured and burr walnut bureau bookcase, the fitted upper part with drawers and pidgeon holes, above a bureau with a shaped interior, and two short drawrs and three long graduated drawers, all retaining their original brass handles and escutcheons.

This bureau bookcase is particualrly high quality, with the interior as well as the exterior venerred in highly figured walnut with feather bandings. The straight top and well balanced proportions are classic early Georgia design. The piece has the very rare feature of the centre bureau section being lockable, when unlocked this can be completely removed.
